The ground around here

What the dirt does in this part of the county

The name is accurate. High Ridge sits on the wooded, hilly northern edge of Jefferson County, and lots here tend to be large, treed and anything but flat. That combination makes access the first question on almost every job — not whether the work can be done, but whether a machine and trailer can reach where it needs doing.

This part of the county is also karst country: limestone close to the surface, with the sinkholes and abrupt changes in what is underfoot that go with it. Rock at eighteen inches turns a trench or a pad into a different job, and there is no way to know from a phone call. It is the main reason the estimate happens on site.

What gets asked for

The jobs this area tends to need

Around High Ridge the work skews rural and wooded: land clearing and lot reclamation, stump and root removal, gravel drives that hold on a grade, bank stabilisation, septic-adjacent grading and drainage, and pads for shops and outbuildings.

That describes the ground and the housing stock here, not a list of jobs completed in this town. The work we can show you is on the gallery, and what customers say about it is on the why us page.

Questions

High Ridge: common questions

Do you cover High Ridge?
Yes. High Ridge is in Jefferson County, one of the two counties this company covers, about fifteen miles from our Hillsboro base.
What happens if you hit rock?
It is common here, and it is exactly what the walk-through is for — the point of looking at the ground before quoting is to find as much of that as possible at the estimate stage rather than halfway through the work. Where it cannot be known in advance, you get told that too.
Can you clear an overgrown lot?
Yes. Brush, scrub, small timber, fence lines and stumps, with the material hauled off rather than pushed into a corner. On sloped ground clearing and a drainage plan usually belong in the same job, because taking the vegetation off a hillside speeds the water up.
