Two counties, and Hillsboro in the middle of them
Jefferson County and St. Louis County are the two areas Bryer named, and they fit together the way the work does: Hillsboro sits in the middle of Jefferson County, and St. Louis County starts about twenty minutes up the road. Between the two of them that is most of the corridor from the Meramec down to Festus.
This is a service-area business, not a yard you visit, so what actually sets the radius is what a truck and trailer can reach and get home from in a day. A bigger job justifies a longer drive than a small one — a full site prep or a land-clearing job is worth going further for than a couple of hours of grading.
St. Louis County

When to call
The ground decides the schedule, not the diary
Excavation is one of the few trades where the weather does not just delay the work, it changes whether the work is possible at all. Saturated ground cannot be compacted and frozen ground cannot be cut. Knowing which season suits which job is most of knowing when to ring.
Spring
Everybody calls at once, because spring is when last winter’s drainage problem finally becomes visible. It is also the wettest ground of the year, so grading and compaction wait for it to dry out. Book early: the first workable dry stretch fills faster than any other part of the season.
Summer
The main season, and the one where ground is dry enough to compact properly. It is also brutal to work in — two of our four reviews mention the crew working long days through record heat to finish. Site prep, pads and driveways belong here.
Fall
Quietly the best window of the year: the ground is dry, the heat has gone, and anything seeded afterwards actually takes before winter. If you want a bank rebuilt or a yard regraded and left looking finished, this is when to have it done.
Winter
Frozen ground rules out grading and compaction, but demolition and land clearing get easier — no leaves, no undergrowth, frozen ground carries a machine without rutting a lawn. It is also the right time to get spring work estimated and booked, so you are at the front of that list rather than the back.
